23rd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID)

April 27th, 2013 to April 30th, 2013

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is our pleasure and privilege to invite you to join the 23rd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, which will be held in Berlin from 27 to 30 April 2013.
Both, international and local committees are working hard and with great enthusiasm on a programme focused on the latest developments in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The congress will not only consist of plenary lectures, meet-the-expert, poster sessions and integrated symposia, yet offers also an education opportunity for young colleagues and beginners in the field. You will benefit from state-of-the-art updates in various aspects of infectious diseases, and you will have an unique opportunity to network with ESCMID study groups and other scientific groups from all over the world. Make a difference! Meet your friends and colleagues, share ideas, plan ahead and shape the future. Today, Berlin is once again a leading centre of scientific and medical research with one of Europe’s largest university medical faculties at “Charité Universitätsmedizin”. With Nobel Laureates Emil von Behring, Robert Koch and Paul Ehrlich, Berlin is steeped in history in the field of infectious disease medicine.
“Be Berlin”, dive into a re-united city with countless possibilities. From it’s turbulent history in the twentieth century, it’s bloom in the “roaring twenties” and as an emblem of the cold war from the middle to the end of the last century, Berlin has evolved into a global focal point for young individuals and artists attracted by a liberal lifestyle and modern “Zeitgeist”. It became a global melting pot and links people and cultures instead of dividing into East and West.
Find yourself in a world of opportunities at the 23rd ECCMID congress, centrally located in an exciting and vibrant new Berlin. You are cordially invited to be a part of it!
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Berlin in 2013.
Prof Petra Gastmeier (23rd ECCMID President)
Prof Gunnar Kahlmeter (ESCMID President)
Prof Giuseppe Cornaglia (ESCMID Past President)
Prof Jordi Vila (ECCMID Programme Director)
