David Minter's additional report on the establishment of the European Mycological Association

In September 2003 at the XIV Congress of European Mycologists in Crimea (Ukraine), the European Mycological Association was established. Trond Schumacher, IMA President, was present. Paco Calonge, listed on the IMA website as representing the European Committee, and Tetiana Andrianova, a member of the IMA Executive Committee, were also present and are among the 115 founder members. Tetiana Andrianova is the Association's first Secretary. I am the first President.

Full information about the new Association can be found on its website [http://www.euromould.org/index.htm].

At the meeting establishing the new Association, all present agreed in a very friendly manner that, as soon as it had an established constitution, it would take over the work of representing Europe on the IMA, with the President as the named contact.

I would be grateful therefore if you could alter the IMA website to include information about the European Mycological Association, and to update the information about European representation in the IMA.

The proposal to hold the XIV Congress in Crimea was made by Prof. Irina Dudka and myself at the XIII Congress in Alcala de Henares just after my return from the wonderful III Congreso Latinoamericano de Micología so ably organized by you, Teresita and others in Caracas, and I would like to add that you inspired me to try to do something similar in Europe!
