Membership
Membership of the IMA is open to: (a) national or international societies, associations or other groups having mycological interests, and (b) individuals having mycological interests. Such memberships shall be recognized as Sustaining Member Mycological Organizations (SMMOs), Member Mycological Organizations
(MMOs), and Individual Members respectively. If your organisation is interested in becoming an SMMO or
MMO of the International Mycological Association, please contact Karen Hansen, Treasurer.
Individual Membership of € 30 is collected automatically
as part of the registration fee at each IMC and are valid for the period
between congresses (approximately 4 years). The individual members of MMOs of the IMA are also members of the IMA.
The International Mycological Association
Section for General Mycology of the International Union of Biological Societies. The International Mycological Association (IMA), founded in 1971, represents the interests of over 30,000 mycologists worldwide. It is a non profit making organization, the purpose of which is the encouragement of mycology in all its branches. The International Mycological Association constitutes the Section for General Mycology of the International Union of Biological Societies (IUBS), the primary biological component of the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU).
Important activities of the IMA are sponsorship of International Mycological Congresses, representation of mycological interests at an international level, and encouragement of liaison with and development of national, regional, and international bodies that have mycological interests. Toward these aims several publications are made available periodically, this web site is maintained, and other activities are pursued. The IMA is managed by its officers and Executive Committee who are elected by the General Assembly of delegates at each Congress.
